Help to spread some festive cheer this Christmas

A local church in Maidstone is asking for donations towards their Christmas hamper project this November, to bring a little festive cheer to struggling families over Christmas.

The Vine Church, based on Northumberland Road in Shepway, plays a key role in the Maidstone community and this year is no exception. The Church is asking local people for donations of festive items which will then be given to those most in need. Their aim is to create 100 Christmas hampers including items such as mince pies, biscuits, and hot chocolate, that they can then hand out to homes in the area.

Local landlord, Golding Homes, are supporting this project by donating some Christmas treats to include in the hampers

“We are delighted to make a donation towards The Vine’s Christmas Hamper project this year and recognise the value of this contribution to many vulnerable people and families over the festive season,” said Annemarie Roberts, Director of Operations at Golding Homes.

“The Vine do some fantastic work in the area and we know they provide a lot of valuable support to many of our customers. We hope these hampers will help towards bringing some joy to Maidstone residents this Christmas.”

Angie Crowe, from The Vine, said: We are distributing 100 luxury Christmas hampers to bless vulnerable families in the local area. It's an amazing privilege to bring a bit of joy to those who have really struggled over the past year.

"If you would like to get involved, we would very much appreciate any donations of Christmas goodies.”

To donate to The Vine’s Christmas Hamper Project, you can do so by calling Angie on 07724 473796 to arrange a suitable time to drop off at the Church on Northumberland Road, Shepway. The Vine has produced a list of items that can be donated:  The Vine Christmas Hamper list 2020 [pdf] 381KB

The Christmas hampers will be distributed in December to households that are struggling. Referrals to receive the hampers can be made direct to The Vine, by contacting them on 01622 746839.
