First glimpse inside new homes at Shepway

Take a first look at one of the brand-new flats at our Fielding Park development in Maidstone.

Once complete, the development – on Cambridge Crescent in Shepway – will include 236 new energy efficient, affordable homes for social rent and shared ownership, as well as a modern shopping area and improved landscaping.

The major regeneration scheme is being delivered across three phases, with developer Skillcrown starting the first phase in 2024 and the second phase last summer. Phase 1, which is now nearing completion, is made up of 119 homes and four commercial units and is where the shared ownership show flat gives a first glimpse into the high-quality homes on offer.

Social rent homes will be advertised on Kent HomeChoice for applicants registered with Maidstone Borough Council. For shared ownership, a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments and two- and three- bedroom semi-detached houses are available to buy from as little as a 10% share.

Each home has been finished to a high specification, with contemporary kitchens featuring integrated appliances, stylish quality flooring and modern bathrooms.  The houses enjoy private rear gardens and on-plot parking, and the modern apartments benefit from their own private terrace or balcony. The development also includes public EV charging points and solar panels to support more energy-efficient living.

Shared ownership helps people who want to buy a home of their own but can’t afford the cost of buying the whole property outright. Buyers purchase a proportion of their home and pay rent for the remaining share.

Steph Goad, Chief Executive of Golding Homes, said:

"This marks an important milestone in the regeneration of Fielding Park.

“This development reflects our core purpose of providing great homes and thriving communities, creating a place where people can put down roots, feel proud of where they live and look forward to the future with confidence."

Matt Arnold, Land and Development Director at Skillcrown, added:

“Unveiling the shared ownership show flat was a great opportunity to show the progress being made on site and give a feel of the quality of the homes being delivered.

“Fielding Park is an important project for Shepway and a great example of what strong partnership working can achieve. We’re proud to be working alongside Golding Homes to deliver much-needed affordable homes and it’s great to see the development taking shape.”
