We’re delighted to have received a SHIFT Gold accreditation for sustainability for the fourth consecutive year.

Once again, we increased our score by 4% to achieve 71% overall. This underlines a year-on-year improvement that keeps Golding ranked in the top two, when benchmarked against our peers, for sustainability best practice across the social housing sector.

The SHIFT (Sustainable Homes Index for Tomorrow)  assesses sustainability performance in  areas such as asset, energy and water efficiency, customer engagement and awareness, waste, biodiversity, transport, supplier sustainability, and responsible procurement.

Lucy Breeze, Sustainability Manager at Golding Homes, said:

“Achieving SHIFT Gold for the fourth-year running is a super result, and we’re very proud. We continue to reap the rewards of our asset spend commitment which formed an important pillar of our three-year sustainability strategy ‘Making Golding Greener’.

“In the past year (2025/26) alone, we’ve spent around £13.2m on asset investment. including £2.6m on energy programmes. 131 of our homes are benefiting from a  mixture of air source heat pumps, solar PV, battery storage, external wall insulation,  loft and cavity wall insulation. And our home energy and water advice service has helped our customers save over £90,00”.

Our new sustainability strategy will be published in 2027 and we're building on lessons learned, listening to our customers and focusing on providing safe, decent homes and services that make a real and lasting difference.
