New look day centre unveiled in Senacre
Reculver Day Centre in Senacre, Maidstone, has had a makeover thanks to social value investment by Golding Homes and Building Associates Ltd.
We've partnered with Building Associates Ltd to regenerate three garage sites at Thatch Barn Road, Headcorn; The Harbour, Sutton Valence; and Sheridan Close, Ringlestone, with the contract including a social value commitment to invest in improving the local community.
Thanks to this investment, the Reculver Day Centre has now been uplifted, with improved storage capacity and full redecoration, future-proofing this vital community space. The investment also means the centre is now better able to support residents and tackle social isolation.
Pheonix Group, who run a food larder providing affordable groceries and hot meals to local residents from the centre three days a week, will also benefit from the increased storage space by being able to store food safely, reduce waste and expand their food provision.
We'll also use the refreshed space for more frequent community use, including meeting customers face-to-face and holding support and advice sessions.
Lucy Older, Regeneration Advisor at Golding Homes, said: “We’re really pleased to see the improvements at Reculver Day Centre come to life. Community spaces like this are incredibly important for bringing people together and supporting residents.
“Through our partnership with Building Associates and our social value commitment, it’s great to know this investment will help organisations like Pheonix Group continue their fantastic work while creating a welcoming space for residents to access support and connect with others.”
Ben Sands, Contracts Manager at Building Associates Ltd, said: “It was a pleasure to give something back to the local community and we hope the residents enjoy using the new facilities we've provided.”
