Our Community Chest Fund supports The Princess Project

The Princess Project, based in Maidstone, has been provided much-needed help to families in need during the Covid-19 pandemic. We are delighted to have been able to support them with their Totcycle scheme, thanks to funding allocated from our Community Chest Fund.

Totcycle is a baby and toddler goods bank that has been running for seven years. However, due to the impact of Coronavirus, The Princess Project knew an increase in financial pressure on families would mean their services would be more in need than ever. Unable to take in second-hand items during the pandemic, the team needed to stock up their goods bank to continue to provide help to the local community, so applied for our Community Chest Fund.

Since receiving the money, The Princess Project has been able to help many families with a variety of needs. These range from supplying a new breast pump to a first-time mum when she was discharged from hospital to providing a new pair of school shoes to a family in need, meaning one less thing for them to worry about in such uncertain times.

The team also received a referral from the Maidstone Early Help team, who asked for support getting a young single mum with three children out and about. The family had a buggy for the younger children, but her eldest child has additional needs and it was difficult for him to walk beside the buggy. The grant from Golding Homes allowed the organisation to buy the mum a new buggy board, meaning the family could all go out together safely.
