Amber weather warning
25.06.26
The weather warning will be increasing to a red health warning from tomorrow - Friday 26 June
Our cleaning, caretaking and fly-tipping teams will maintain reduced duties to carry out health and safety inspections. We’ve rescheduled some repairs and spoken to customers to let them know of these changes - thank you for your understanding and patience.
We’re continuing to carry out welfare checks with our OPAL and most vulnerable customers. The combination of heat and humidity will be oppressive so please stay hydrated, avoid the sun during the hottest part of the day, and keep your home cool. Please see our Summer safety page for tips and advice on managing as temperatures rise.
Please also be aware that a hosepipe ban has been announced today (Thursday 25 June) by South East Water and is enforceable from Friday 3 July. Find out more.

We continue to monitor the weather each day this week and may reschedule appointments if needed. We’ll get in touch to let you know if you’re affected by any changes – thank you for your understanding and patience. We’re making welfare calls to check on all our OPAL customers.
Updates on our services during this period of hot weather will be added to this page. Please see our Summer safety page for tips and advice on managing as temperatures rise.

22.06.26
There’s an amber weather warning in place across the country Tuesday 23 – Thursday 25 June due to the extreme heat.
To protect our colleagues, we’ll be reducing our cleaning, caretaking and fly-tipping services. Outdoor jobs such as roofing and loft works will be rescheduled during this period. We’ll contact customers to re-book these appointments. In addition, we’ll be postponing our estate inspections on Thursday 25 June in Teston, Barming, East Barming, Allington and Stockbury. This has been rescheduled for Friday 3 July – Neighbourhood Action Days. We’ll be monitoring the weather during the week and may need to reschedule appointments, but we’ll be in touch to let you know if you’re affected – thank you for your patience.
Supervisors will be out checking in with our colleagues to make sure they’re ok and have plenty of water and we’ll be making welfare calls to all our OPAL customers.
Please make sure you protect yourself and others to avoid becoming unwell:
- Drink plenty of water and take it with you if travelling
- Avoid the sun between 11am-3pm
- Stay indoors or in the shade as much as possible and keep babies and children out of the sun
- Apply sunscreen regularly if you do need to go outside
- Close your curtains or blinds to keep rooms cooler
- Check in on any elderly or vulnerable neighbours
- Don’t leave anyone in a closed, parked vehicle, especially children and animals
If you need medical assistance, call 111 unless it’s an emergency. Dial 999 only in an emergency.
