Much needed affordable homes are being developed across Kent over the next four years, thanks to housing provider Golding Homes

Golding Homes, based in Maidstone, recently exchanged contracts to deliver 164 new homes in partnership with three major UK developers; Countryside Properties, Millwood Designer Homes and Taylor Wimpey.

The new homes, located across five different developments, will be built and delivered over the next four years. Once complete the schemes, based in and around Maidstone, Ashford and Canterbury will provide 98 homes for affordable rent and 66 homes for sale through shared ownership.

Golding Homes currently own and manage over 7,650 properties, but as part of its latest strategic plan, have ambitions to grow their development portfolio by building 2,000 new homes between now and 2025.

Tom Casey, Director of Development and Sales said: “At Golding we recognise the importance of providing affordable housing; building homes and communities where people choose to live. I am delighted we have been able to enter into contract with three very established housing developers to build new homes in Kent. Once complete these new homes will meet the need for high-quality housing, helping to make a positive difference to people’s lives.”

The investment into these new homes has been achievable for the housing provider, thanks to £120m worth of funding from NatWest and Santander.

Millwood Designer Homes, an award-winning UK Developer based in West Malling, are working with Golding on two village developments; North Street in Biddenden and Vicarage Road in Yalding. Work has already started at both sites, with the homes in Yalding scheduled for handover this summer and Biddenden in early 2021.

The Oakapple Place development in Maidstone and the Royal Parade development, located on the former Howe Barracks site in Canterbury, are being built in partnership with Taylor Wimpey, one of the UK's largest residential homebuilders. These two schemes will be developed in phases, with 32 affordable homes to be provided at Oakapple Place and 53 at Royal Parade. Building work is due to start at Oakapple Place in the next few months and at Royal Parade in the autumn.

Countryside Properties, specialists in urban regeneration, will be developing 51 new homes for Golding at Sutton Road in Maidstone. Work is due to start on site imminently, with 33 affordable rent and 18 shared ownership homes due for handover in phases, with final completion by summer 2023.

Golding Homes is the largest social landlord in Maidstone, currently providing homes and services to over 20,000 people across Kent. All profits are invested back into building more new homes, improving existing housing stock and providing services to customers and the wider community.
