UPDATE 2 November at 2pm:

The Amber Warning was reduced in Kent from midday today.

We're continuing to focus on emergency repairs and supporting vulnerable customers today, but will revert back to business as usual from tomorrow (Friday 3 November). If you've got a repairs appointment with us tomorrow, it's going ahead.

1 November 2023:

An Amber Warning for severe weather is in place from 6am until 8pm on 2 November in parts of Kent as Storm Ciaran hits, bringing high winds.

To keep all customers and colleagues safe we’re postponing all non-urgent visits to customers homes, this includes routine repairs. So, on Thursday 2 November we’ll be responding to emergencies only.

Customers with appointments will be contacted as soon as possible to reschedule.

We expect a high number of calls over the coming days so we appreciate your patience while we prioritise helping customers with emergencies.

We’re also making efforts to contact customers who might need some extra support today to check in. Our contractors will be carrying out safety checks on all of our sites with scaffolding, both before and after the storm.

Please only contact us if you have an emergency and make any non-urgent requests online via My Golding.

You can check what’s an emergency repair on our website.

We anticipate there may be some delays on Friday, depending on the storm and the level of emergencies we’re responding to and will let customers know if further appointments need to be rescheduled.

You can also help by making sure you’re fully prepared for bad weather. There’s lots of helpful information on how to make a household plan on the Kent Prepared website.

Top tips include:

  • Secure loose objects outside eg ladders, bins, furniture, trampolines.
  • Park cars in garages where possible or away from trees, fences or buildings.
  • Secure windows, doors or loft hatches.
  • Charge mobile phones.
  • Make sure you have a torch with working batteries.
  • Stay at home and avoid travel unless essential.
  • If your power goes off, you may be able to reset your boiler using this simple film guide.
  • Make sure you know where your stop cock is and can turn it off in an emergency. More information on this is on our winter tips page
