Renting a home
Working closely with Local Authorities we offer social and affordable rented properties in and around the Maidstone, Ashford, Medway, Canterbury, Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge & Malling areas. View the developments we are currently working on here.
How to Apply
The majority of our homes are let through Kent Homechoice, the Choice Based Lettings (CBL) scheme operating throughout Kent. You can apply for housing by completing an online application on the Kent Homechoice website. If you are unable to complete the form online, please contact your Local Authority directly.
Once you have submitted your application and it has been confirmed that you meet the eligibility criteria for your relevant Local Authority, you will be included on the local housing register and will be able to bid for properties via Kent Homechoice. The website provides details of the properties we have to rent, and once registered you will be able to bid for homes online or by mobile app. Alternatively, if you require staff assistance you can contact your Local Authority.
The majority of properties are advertised on a daily basis and each advert will be available for a minimum of 5 days. You can place up to three bids at any time.
If you are looking for accommodation in Canterbury, properties are advertised weekly on Wednesdays.
At the end of the bidding period, all bids for homes are put in priority date order to produce a list of eligible applicants for each property. Golding Homes will then contact the top applicant and begin our own eligibility checks, including a thorough verification and affordability assessment.
If you are already a Golding Homes resident and are looking to move, please visit our Moving home page for more information.
Alternative options to Social Renting
- If you don’t qualify for social rented housing, then you might want to think about privately renting a home from us.
- If you are over 50 you may qualify for accommodation in one of our sheltered properties.
