Shared Ownership Week 2023

 

Today is the start of Shared Ownership Week 2023 (20 -26 September) when we celebrate this unique, government-backed scheme which aims to help people, who would otherwise struggle to do so, get onto the property ladder.

Also known as ‘part buy, part rent’, Shared Ownership gives the buyer the chance to start with a percentage of the asking price of the home and then choose to buy more at any time. This is known as ‘staircasing’.

The cost of increasing the share will depend on the market value of the home when buying.

Buying through shared ownership, first-time buyer James was able to stay close to friends and family in Maidstone.
